Remember the main events and news of the infrastructure/construction sector in 2024
We started our retrospective, with the values released by ABDIB that revealed that in 2024, Brazil registered a historical record of public and private investments in infrastructure, totaling R $ 259.3 million , the highest value since 2010. In addition, according to CBIC, the construction sector registered significant growth of 4.1% in 2024 , driven by infrastructure, housing and public works.
Next, we will detail some of the main investments and events that marked this year of major projects in the country.
🌟 Infrastructure highlights
The Growth Acceleration Program (PAC) was resumed, predicting investments of R $ 1.6 trillion to 2033, with R $ 1.06 trillion from the private sector.
Regional distribution of infrastructure investments (highways and railways):
➡️ North Region:
- Pará: Conclusion of BR-163 paving, facilitating the flow of agricultural production.
- Rondônia: Construction of the International Bridge on the Mamoré River, on BR-425, strengthening the connection with Bolivia.
➡️ Northeast Region:
- Bahia: Duplication of BR-101, improving the connection between Salvador and the south of the state.
- Pernambuco: expansion of the port of Suape, increasing the export capacity.
➡️ Midwest Region:
- Mato Grosso: Continuation of works on BR-163, essential for agribusiness.
- Goiás: Duplication of BR-060, improving access to Brasilia.
➡️ Southeast Region:
- São Paulo: Expansion of the Rodoanel, facilitating traffic in the metropolis.
- Minas Gerais: Improvements in BR-381, known as the “Highway of Death”, aiming to reduce accidents.
➡️ Southern Region:
- Paraná: Investments on BR-277, the main connection with the Port of Paranaguá. In addition, Paraná stood out with R $ 4 billion applied in works such as the south contour of Curitiba and improvements in PR-317.
- Rio Grande do Sul: Conclusion of the duplication of BR-116, between Porto Alegre and Pelotas.
🚚 Highways: Concessions in Focus
In 2024, the road concessions sector in Brazil had a record year, with several important auctions. There were 12 road concessions auctions , the largest number already registered in a single year by the Ministry of Transport. We highlight the granting of the Pellulose Route in Mato Grosso do Sul, was structured with investments of R $ 6 billion and operational spending of R $ 3 billion over 30 years.
Main Auctions : Among the most notable auctions are BR-381/MG, BR-040/GO/MG (Crystal Route), BR-262/MG (Zebu Route), and Paraná Highway Lots (Lot 3 and Lot 6).
🚙 Conclusions of important infrastructure enterprises
Here's a selection of the most representative deliveries made throughout this year.
➡️ Outline Road of Greater Florianópolis (SC): Completion of 50 km of double clues, benefiting 1.1 million people and improving mobility in the region.
➡️ Scharlau Viaduct Complex (RS): Solution for the state's largest logistics bottleneck, with new handles and widening the access clues.
➡️ Urban Crystalline Crossing (GO): Duplication of BR-050, benefiting 60,000 people and facilitating the flow of agricultural production.
➡️ BR-226/MA paving: 100 km asphalting between chest and timon, waited for 50 years, benefiting 327 thousand people.
➡️ Itapuã do Oeste Urban Crossing (RO): BR-364 restructuring, improving traffic safety and fluidity.
➡️ Complex Road of Trevão de Monte Alegre de Minas (MG): improvements in BR-365 and BR-153, benefiting 20 thousand inhabitants and 25 thousand daily users.
🚄 Railways: Strategic Expansion
The rail sector received a historical impetus, the PAC allocated R $ 94.2 billion for projects such as the West-Leste Integration Railway (FIOL). And private investments reached R $ 170 billion on new rails covering 19 states.
⚡ Energy
Enel increased its investments by 61.4% , reaching US $ 4.6 billion for modernization of electrical networks. Solar projects, such as the Cerrado Sol Complex, gained relevance in the energy scenario.
⛏ Mining
The mineral sector consolidated a growth cycle with contributions of US $ 64.5 billion by 2028,
strategically distributed through regions:
- Minas Gerais: US $ 17.23 billion (30.6% of the total).
- Pará: US $ 15.72 billion (24.4%).
- Bahia: US $ 9 billion (14%).
- Amazonas: US $ 2.82 billion (4.4%).
- Goiás: US $ 2.34 billion (3.6%).
- Ceará: US $ 1.73 billion (2.7%).
Brazil Iron stood out with a $ 5 billion contribution in Bahia, generating 55,000 jobs.
🏥 Health Infrastructure Works
With a budget of R $ 218.5 billion for SUS, the Ministry of Health resumed 1,000 works paralyzed across the country, totaling R $ 353 million invested.
⛽ Oleum and Gas
According to ANP , investments in Brazil can reach about R $ 10 billion in 2024, in projects to explore the exploration and production of oil and natural gas (E&P) points to the Annual Exploration Report 2023.

New projects for 2025 and sector perspectives
2025 emerges as a crucial year for the infrastructure sector in Brazil. Construction entrepreneurs, according to CNI , are optimistic about the continuity of economic growth and the expansion of structural projects.
💡 The main highlights of investments
Private Investments: ABDIB of R $ 372.3 billion between 2025 and 2029, marking a growth of 63.4% over the previous cycle. More than 500 projects were identified, totaling a Capex over R $ 800 billion, focusing on transportation, logistics and sanitation. One third of these projects is expected to be underway by 2027.
Auctions: Brazil should hold about 90 infrastructure auctions by 2025, bending the 2024 numbers, including highways, railways, ports and sanitation, according to the examination of the exam .
⚡ Energy
Solar Energy: Absollary projects the addition of 13.2 GW in new solar projects, raising the installed capacity to 64.7 GW .
Electric Network: Enel to invest US $ 4.95 billion by 2027, with US $ 4.6 billion dedicated to strengthening electrical networks.
🛢️ Oleum and Gas
Petrobras: The industry giant plans to invest $ 111 billion by 2029, prioritizing biofuels and decarbonization projects.
⛏️ Vale Mining and Investments
